We’re excited to be hosting a one-day workshop called “The Public History Job Search” on Friday, Oct. 24. Sponsored by the public history programs at Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis, Northern Kentucky University, and the University of Louisville, the workshop is intended to prepare graduate students for the process of applying and interviewing for entry-level and early-career professional positions. Panel discussions will feature recent graduates, staff from leading historical institutions, and heads of private-sector firms who hire historians. Dr. Turkiya Lowe, chief historian at the Southeast Regional Office of the National Park Service in Atlanta, Georgia, will speak about historical careers in the National Park Services and the challenges of the federal hiring process. With more than 45 people registered, we expect a lively and informative event.
