The Department of History has generously decided to establish a scholarship to support public history internships. This is an important sign of the value that the department places on internships as part of the training that graduate students receive at the U of L. It is also a sign of our commitment to institutional partners who host interns. We recognize that successful internships require motivated students and professional oversight and support. We hope that this scholarship will help students make the most of their internships and contribute to the programing and operations of host institutions.
A flyer about the scholarship can be found at the link below. If you have not yet done an internship and received credit for Hist 608, I encourage you to begin thinking about possibilities and to apply for this scholarship. It is generous of the department to support interns in this fashion, and since the scholarship will be awarded on a competitive basis, receiving one will be an important mark of distinction on your curriculum vitae.
