Dedication of New Bloedner Monument

On Friday, December 16, 2011, the National Cemetery Administration will dedicate a replica of the 32nd Indiana Infantry Monument at Cave Hill Cemetery. Commonly known as the “Bloedner Memorial,” the 32nd Indiana Infantry Monument is the believed to be the first monument created to honor soldiers who died during the American Civil War. The original was removed in 2008 because of its deteriorating condition. It is currently on display at the Frazier History museum in downtown Louisville.
