John Ranard, “The Brutal Aesthetic,” at the Muhammad Ali Center through Nov. 30

Public History student Marcy Werner is the curator of a new exhibit at Louisville’s Muhammad Ali Center.  The exhibit serves as Werner’s thesis for her Master’s of Art in the Critical and Curatorial Studies program.  Renard, a Louisville native, was well-known for his documentary photography until his death in 2008.  Werner’s exhibit features 27 black-and-white photos, many of which appeared in Joyce Carol Oates’s On Boxing (1986).

The exhibit runs through Nov. 30. For more info, see http://www.alicenter.org/press/newsarchive/Pages/TheAliCenterAnnouncesNewPhotographicExhibit%E2%80%9CTheBrutalAesthetic%E2%80%9DBYJohnRanard.aspx
